Advantages Of Using Sms To Communicate

By Armando Rodriguez

Since the inception of the SMS, communication has changed drastically over the past few decades. More and more people have come to use SMS and others have taken it to be their favorite means of communication. Some people cannot even remember when the last time they called someone as majority of the time they are texting. Using SMS has many advantages that make most people prefer them.

Texting is superfast as messages take very little time to be delivered. One does not have to wait for hours on end to have their messages delivered as their texts are received almost instantly. Time is really an important factor, this makes it possible for people to text simultaneously, and it is an added bonus if the messages are important.

It is also a good way for a person to stay discreet. If one makes a phone call, his conversation can be overheard and this can leak some personal and sensitive information. However, using the short message service, one can communicate confidential information without the fear of being overheard. In addition, this prevents one from making noise disturbances especially in an office setting.

Unlike other forms of communication where you can only communicate to one person at a time, short messages allow one to send messages to many people simultaneously. This is known as broadcasting of a message. This thus prevents a person from re-writing the same message as one can serve all. In addition, one can also uphold many conversations at the same time.

many people who open up their email accounts do not even read the emails. This can be attributed to the lazy option of 'mark as read' since many people are just too lazy to go over their emails. Texting however, has a high open rate and it is common to see many people pick up their phones to read a text after it rings or vibrates. This statistic is especially useful in marketing.

In emails, messages are usually taken through a system of filters that may prevent it from being delivered. Text messages on the other hand can have no barriers whatsoever and a text is delivered as soon as it is sent. Therefore, one does not have to worry about the delivery of a message and can rely on texts. This reliability makes the text messages to be preferred.

The 160-character limit of a text is another one of the benefits. The limit makes people be clear and precise about what they are talking about. One does not need to go over large contents of words just to get an idea as it is in the case of emails. This therefore eliminates unnecessary conversation as people go straight to the point.

Companies have also incorporated the use of texts into their systems. This is because texts do not overload systems as much as phone calls do. It is common nowadays to see TV shows interact with their viewers using text messages to give their opinions and views.
