What To Look For When Choosing An SMS Service

By Wanda Rosner

With the large number of people migrating to texting, it is probably what you would term the 'text' invasion. This has seen an influx of people rushing to subscribe to various SMS service providers. However, in this frenzy people have to evaluate the service providers based on a list of factors to ensure they get the best.

See how cost effective the available providers are and on what basis do they offer their services. See if it involves buying of credits and if so what are the charges to different places. On the other hand, it may involve buying bundles of texts for a certain price and one is free to text anywhere. Pick the one that is most cost effective.

You also need to find out if there are any hidden costs. Many providers will advertise and deliberately leave out the hidden costs. This is in a bid to make their costs seem cheaper and to attract many unsuspecting customers. They for example may leave out the setup fee and one is later on charged.

A provider might require you to meet a minimum purchase requirement. This means that one has to have at least the lowest stated value of credits or tests as required by the provider. Evaluate yourself and see if you occasionally text or if you do not text a lot. If you are the former, you can pick the minimum requirement you prefer but if you are the latter, consider a provider with no minimum requirements.

After buying many credits one may be surprised that they have expired in a relatively short time. The reason is mostly because they did not enquire about the validity of these credits. Providers usually provide a dead line to use your credits and if they are not used within the specified period, they are doomed to expire. Therefore, be extra careful and buy credits you are likely to finish in the given period.

Another factor to look into is the network coverage offered by the service provider. See if they can relay messages to your targeted areas. Some cannot be able to guarantee deliverance since they may not control their gateways directly. Most providers will usually give you free texts so you can use to test their network coverage.

Some providers have very poor quality of networks. You may be duped into thinking you have chosen a more economical option but it can come at a price of poor signals. This might mean one is unable to communicate with people and thus it is important to test their networks. This is usually done by virtue of the free texts they offer. Furthermore, low signal quality may be due to one choosing cheap unreliable routing options.

Check on their management systems and see how efficient they are. Most providers will provide an internet based management systems to allow the user to keep track of their remaining credits or texts. The efficiency is mostly judged by the ease and organization of their user interface. Thus it is of importance to really check and ensure that your provider fits all your specifications.
