By Bill Duggen

As soon as a promotion is offered in the workplace, most people conjure up a picture of better environment at work as well as a fatter pay check. Though there may be dozens of advantages one can reap from accepting a promotion, experts say that there are also valid reasons why you need to pass on such an opportunity.

However, turning down such a great offer is actually quite difficult. Accepting the offer would mean you will have to leave your present team and start a new relationship with new teammates. It can also lead to a more challenging environment in which you are not sure you can handle and eventually can lead to losing your job if not dealt with accordingly. Thus it is really important that you consider all of the ramifications before taking that golden ticket.

Let's say you're no longer willing to accept the offer, how would you decline it in a way that no compromises or negative impacts to your position. This process is actually quite easy if you?ve been working with the company for some time and have developed a good relationship with its management. With the management already aware of your skills and performance, they can easily trust you of whatever decision you will make. Thus, you can simply say "no" to the job promotion without having to think of dire consequences.Should a relocation be involved in a promotion which you're not willing to take, simply turn it down by providing an explanation on how the relocation can negatively affect your current situation. One way of implementing such method is to explain to your boss that your children may have a hard time adopting to a new environment provided that they are already in their senior years in high school. Or ?I really love to get that new job but I can?t take my sick wife at a farther distance from the hospital? and many more.

You can also decline a generous offer for a promotion by clearly stating that you are more productive and useful if you are on your current position. As an example, you can say "That is definitely a great offer. I'm sure it pays better than my present job however I've learned a few things on what my position requires and I believe that I can excel in doing those.?

You can also have a different approach in rejecting an offer by learning about the offered position and finding a way that the skill requirements does not suit you. To explain this to your boss or manager, all you have to do is be detailed as much as possible regarding what you do in the office and your key skills in maintaining that position. Compare the positions being pictured and in which position you will probably excel in.

The process of turning down a promotion is actually a bit challenging because it is out of the ordinary and it is simply trying to deny what your bosses want. However, if you would consider these tips mentioned in this post then you will have no difficulty doing so.
