Lawyers are generally practicing law. Shakespare defined lawyers being in the tough profession and so as today. However, for most lawyers, this is a worthwhile profession. Without them, there would be no defenders of the system of justice. An Alexandria lawyer protects innocent people, defends every right of individuals in the constitution and ensures a fair and equal chance in obtaining the compensation and rights of the citizens.

There are several reasons why a certain person wants to become a professional lawyer. Personally, it is quite fulfilling once you engage in various court debates, perform great analysis, meeting deadlines and exploring some limitations. It takes deep commitment to succeed, since you have to take this profession three years on top of your four years in the undergraduate programs.

The first step to take in becoming an attorney is to enroll in a law school. You have to obtain a college degree with an average rate of high grade point or GPA. You need to take the Law School admission test as your entrance exam. After the three years in law school, you are required to take the bar exam. Once you pass the bar exam, you need to practice law in the state where you take the test and you are already a certified lawyer.

However, finishing the first year in the law school is demanding. It means, that since a student needs to be competitive in terms of academics, most schools are prohibiting them to work more that twenty hours every week. This may affect the financial funding of a student. But, there are some schools that are offering part time job programs to help them with their career.

The tuition may be higher. Basically, the costs of attendance is bigger compared in acquiring books, lodging, transportation, food and your whole living expenses. So, reducing your time for work may also affect you of supporting your studies for many years. The good news is, there are grants offered by the federal government that also depend on each need of a student.

Law schools do not have special classes for the students, unlike in most medical schools. Courses like criminal and property procedure, civil procedure is just a few of the most important grounds in law. However, these few courses are the most difficult among other courses. This is also the courses that should be completed and a reference to practice your profession.

Once you graduate, you will obtain a Juris Doctor degree conferred to you. This is a great achievement. This profession is like other professions and as a professional, you need to be licensed. This is where bar exams take place. If you thought that entrance exams was difficult, this is more difficult.

Once you pass the exam, it is time for you to get a job. You have the choice to work being an intern or a clerk. This is a better method to enhance and to gain more knowledge in preparing for your career. Usually, you are paid for the position. Most civil lawyers that assist their clients for their legal conditions.

Working in a big firm is your own choice. You may also choose to work for yourself. However, it is difficult to compete with large companies when you choose this aspect. You may also work for the government or you can go back to school to teach.
