A Diet To Assist Your Skin Care Goals

By John Adams

I:0:JIf you are like most people out there, you probably think that age spots or liver spots are uncontrollable. Age Pigments will likely form as we age. There is next to nothing we can do about it. Well, that is not so. Thanks to thousands of skin doctors and years of research we are in a new world. A time of understanding things. An age of putting information together to help prevent unpleasant effects of aging.

Thanks to the dedicated dermatologist across the country doing countless studies, we have now learned important keys to preventing liver spots. I am going to discuss how changing what you eat can help you be a much younger looking person for years to come.

Liver spots are simply age pigments. These are made up of oxidized unsaturated fats with iron. That lets us know that if we watch our diet, we can prolong age spots. Sure, they are still probably going to show up eventually. However, that does not have to be soon, and it does not have to be as noticeable. By changing the foods we eat, we will prolong the horrid effects of aging and reduce the severity of how it looks. In other words, we can at least make sure that we do everything we can to stop them from being nearly as noticeable.

To start with, you all need to cut out the unsaturated fats as much as possible from our daily diet. This means you should watch what you eat. Try to replace margarine, vegetable oil, nut, and seed oils with saturated fats. Coconut oil, animal fats, and butter are much better options. They usually taste better as well. I know that a lot of you probably like olive oil. Olive oils is okay in moderation, but people should try not to heat it as it is more prone to oxidation. Remember, oxidation will lead to darker and more noticeable age pigments.

Iron is your next enemy. People who consume lots of iron tend to have darker liver spots. A neat little trick to prevent absorbing so much iron that many people do not know is to drink coffee during your major meal times. For some odd reason, coffee slows absorption of iron. This is a great idea if you take multivitamins being as they are almost always overloaded with iron.

The two tips above are the basic important factors that you should keep in the forefront of your mind. However, there is still more. There are always more advanced ways. Allow me to explain a few briefly. How about your hormones? Keep them balanced. It has been shown through research that increased levels of estrogen lead to a higher formation of darker age spots. There are a few things that cause high hormone levels. Stress, birth control, and protein deficiency are among the most common.

Now, eat more chocolate! I know weird tip, right? Most health articles will not tell you to eat more chocolate. Well, the fact is that dark chocolate, shellfish, and liver are all rich in copper. Loading your diet with copper will again help you prevent storing too much of the iron that you eat.

There is only one more thing I would like you to know. Fresh fruits and vegetable have a special ingredient called antioxidants. Antioxidants in your diet will give you the strength you need in the long run to prevent free radicals. Free radicals are the leading cause of increased age pigment formation.
