Castle Rock Headache Sufferers Find Relief Through Chiropractic Care

By Bertulda Zerna

The tension headache is experienced frequently and by many people. It is when they become chronic that they should be considered a serious health problem. As a prominent Castle Rock chiropractor would readily agree, it is time to stop allowing them to impact your life.

Causes include sitting in the same position all day at work. This is especially true of those who work on computers. A stressful time in your life may cause one, as can playing video games for hours. The pain often starts at the back of your head and gradually encircles the entire head.

It is good to know that ordinarily these are not a sign that a more serious illness exists. Your chiropractor can confirm that by doing a thorough evaluation. After that, a plan to reduce the pain can be devised for your care.

You will start with a discussion detailing the frequency and duration of your headaches. Perhaps you can surmise what happens before they start. You may be able to avoid those actions that seem to trigger them. In some cases even the scalp and jaw hurt. It is theorized that there is a connection between them and the neurotransmitters in the brain.

Perhaps the most severe of all headaches is the migraine. These are intense enough to be disabling. All the individual can do is sit quietly and wait for it to be over. Often the sufferer will also have nausea and vomiting.

The assessment includes taking an x-ray. Subluxations of the spine may be causative or at least contributing factors in the case of migraines. Hormonal changes are considered a possibility as well.

The chiropractor will be able to suggest a care plan for you after the assessment is complete. Spinal adjustments are scheduled to align any misplaced vertebrae. Often massage is used concomitantly.

Your series of adjustments and any adjunctive care will be scheduled. Sometimes pain alleviation is achieved after as few as six adjustments. Usually, it takes a little longer. There is research that indicates the spinal adjustments prevent subsequent migraine headaches.
