The time of harvest is another major consideration. It is important the grass is replanted as soon as it is uprooted. Failure to do this leads to loss of moisture and wilting of plant. This greatly affects its quality. The turf has to be as fresh as possible. Keep it moist after uprooting to avoid interfering with the moisture content and water it immediately it is placed in the ground.

The right type of turf has to be selected. This will be determined by the amounts of weeds in it and the health condition of the grass. There are those that do not have any trace of weed in them. These are the best as they reduce costs of removing weeds and are also healthier. They are not prone to weed attack and therefore do not require special chemicals to maintain them.

It should be mature enough. Mature plants are able to cope with changes in their area of growth and also stand better chances of surviving. The maturity of grass can be reflected by looking at its roots. If the roots are spread out and messy, the plant is okay. The color of leaves will also tell. There should be no lighter or darker shades as they are a sign that the grass is immature or unhealthy.

Generally, the quality of sod selected will affect the final product. Care must therefore be taken to ensure that the best is purchased. The above points illustrate some of the qualities to look for. Adhering to them will help save people from future problems.
