Aetna Medicare Advantage For A Healthier Life

By Joshua Reynolds

People's lifestyle and habits have evolved over the past couple of years. It's now easier, more than ever, to get sick from mere contact with others, inhaling the air, or consuming food. What's worse is that the cost of medicine, hospitalization, and consultation are not budget-friendly. The good news is that Americans have access to the Aetna Medicare Advantage for help.

Customized services is at the core of the solutions that Aetna provides. Even if the needs of the customer change in the future, they have the flexibility to adapt. In addition, it ensures that customers get the best service they can get for their money. Regardless of whether it's an organization, employer, family, or individual, options are available. Doctors who are within and outside the network can be visited by patients according to their enrolled plan.

As a requirement of Federal law, Aetna coverage covers the stipulations in Part A and Part B of the Original Medicare program. However, this excludes hospice care. Part A covers a variety of medical services like inpatient hospital care. This includes care in inpatient mental care facilities, long-term care hospitals, critical access hospitals, and acute care hospitals. Nursing home stay is included, as long as it's for a limited time, necessary medically, and a doctor has requested that said care for the condition. Home health services can also be availed of, such as physical therapy, at-home nursing care, and occupational therapy. Again, it requires that care is for a limited time, and it has been deemed that therapeutic care is necessary medically.

Meanwhile, Part B insurance coverage helps patients cover services and supplies required for the treatment and diagnosis of the condition. This covers outpatient services at a clinic, doctor's office, hospital, or other facilities. It also covers preventative services that may either prevent illness, or detect them early. Part B also covers laboratory tests and X-rays, mental health services, doctor visits, durable medical equipment, rehabilitative services such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language services, and preventative services like flu shots, screenings, and pap tests.

Aetna recommends different plans that serve as alternatives to those under Part A and Part B coverage. This can be helpful to patients paying premiums for Part B coverage. Aetna extends these coverages by designing various plans that meet different patient needs. These extra benefits include free fitness facility membership, free annual physical exam, in-network service across the US, and 24/7 toll-free hot-line that connects patients to a registered nurse for questions related to membership or their health. Some plans include dental services, wellness programs, and prescription drug coverage.

City and state location differentiates plans offered by Aetna, which leads to differences in premiums and benefits. However, the availability of in-network coverage keeps the cost low, making it cheaper than others. To do this, Aetna provides a list of accredited provides, doctors, and hospitals. So as not to pay the entire cost of their medical care, patients are encouraged to follow their policies for any doctor visit, procedure, or test that they need done. However, emergency and urgent cases do not follow these policies.

Although it is advisable that all medical requirements be performed within Aetna's network, patients don't have to worry about looking for the specialist they need. The primary care doctor they have chosen will help them with their medical needs, and will recommend tests needed. If they need to visit a specialist, their doctor will be the one to recommend the best option who is within the network.

Other variations of the usual plan include allowing patients to get services outside the Aetna network. This may, however, incur higher out-of-pocket costs. Another type of plan enables patients to choose any doctor where Medicare is accepted, and offers them savings when they use the plan's preferred network. This type of plan also offers additional benefits such as routine vision and dental benefits. Another, more restrictive plan, is offered to patients with specific conditions such as chronic or disabling diseases, conditions like diabetes and end-stage renal disease, or those who reside in institutions. For this plan, providers, benefits, and prescription coverage are designed with the specific patient's needs.
