Guidelines For Gauging David Asscherick Sermons

By Jerry Cole

There are quite a lot of preachers out there. David Asscherick is a missionary located in Australia ministering in an Adventist church. He has ministered for fifteen years which owes to the great sermons that the pastor preaches. Every listener should learn how to gauge preaching to determine its suitability. Here are guidelines for gauging David Asscherick sermons.

Look for clarity of the points. It is a fundamental rule to have clear points anytime when you are presenting a sermon publicly. A pastor who does not maintain clarity can end up confusing his or her listeners. Therefore, one should keep clear biblical context such as the mercies of God, Jesus is alive or other complex topics that one can follow with ease.

Everything should arise naturally from the biblical text. Good preaching should show a constant reference to the vast material in the Bible. The preacher should touch on a familiar passage that touches upon the theme of the preaching before embarking into other detailed texts. This kind of approach helps the congregation create a link between the biblical text and the topic.

Ensure that the word focuses on your needs. Preaching based on the needs of the listener has been highly criticized. Even so, the word should concentrate on personal requirements that humans have but should not lose the purpose of rebuking, instructing and comforting. Therefore, the preaching should take into account aspects such as despair, hope, grit and other elements related to humans.

Determine whether the main point is understandable. One should understand the Bible much better through the sermon. Therefore, the preacher should not put the preaching on his or her agenda but should focus on the agenda of God. The preaching should be predominant but not too exclusive but remain demonstrative. The pastor should tackle the Word from point to point to bring comprehensive biblical teaching.

Consider whether the preacher preaches Jesus. Christians require nothing less than teaching the resurrected and living Christ. Most biblical references focus on the life and teaching of Christ. A listener or member of the church should also consider how the preacher preached about Jesus Christ. Beware of misleading texts that do not highlight the purpose of Christ in Christianity.

Ensure that the sermons engage your imagination. Modern generation tends to avoid using the Gospel as a mere head-trip or making listeners think in a certain way. They tend to make preaching to be an experiential that deal with the whole selves such as needs, soul, desire feelings and other aspects. Therefore, the sermons should engage the entire person hence the need to engage the imagination of hearers.

Make sure that there is a clear call for action. The measuring yardstick of the Word of God depends on the kind of action that one becomes motivated to consider. Common motivations include the call for repentance, praying, fasting and other requirements for authentic Christianity. Calling for action should come naturally as punctuation or conclusion rather than entirely focusing the topic on it.
