The phobia of many folks around the globe ebola virus go airborne

By Alfred Obi

Though pros have stated that ebola is spread through close contact with bodily fluids, some of the people claim the risk of ebola virus airborne is real. These folks believe that unless the world doesn't accept this, they will not do what is needed to end the ebola epidemic.

Interviews with transmissible disease specialists have discovered while this is possible it is extremely improbable. There is no historic case law of a virus changing its method of transmission this radically.

Everything that has occurred so far with ebola can be accounted for by individual to individual contact. In order for the ebola virus airborneit'd be to copy the cells in the lungs and throat.

Secondly, the new strategy would have to be so efficient that it overcomes genetic costs to the pathogen. The natural hurdles Ebola will need to fight to become airborne makes airborne transmission unlikely.

Currently, the virus attacks the arteries in contrast to the respiratory system. Even viruses which do attack the respiratory system find it hard to get through the airways.

An excellent example of this is bird influenza. Even though it is easily spread through the air with birds, it has yet mutated enough to infect humans easily.

If Ebola virus airborne, is not yet a problem what does it mean. To the average person in the western world not that much. Infection is rare unless someone spends time with someone who is already infected. This situation is rare as the few folks who've displayed symptoms have been quarantined.

So far as the professionals go, their time could be better spend studying the pathogen in its current form. When the pathogen itself shows signals of mutating enough to become airborne, then it'll be an issue.

Some of the people claim that by that point it will be too late. Scientists won't have time to find treatments if the pathogen is spreading that quickly.

This is very true. Nonetheless the unlikeliness of this taking place may mean that scientists are wasting their time researching on how to treat ebola when it is going airborne. Currently the great majority of experts accept that this may not ever happen. More lives might be saved by choosing a way to treat and contain the virus.
